The Olmalaika Trust Visit as part of our Women's Trip to Kenya

Many people ask me what philanthropy really mean. I respond with the word humanitarian. Visiting the Olmalaika Trust is the most humanitarian visit that you can enjoy during our ethical safari. I arrived as a stranger and left as part of the cause.
The Good
We set off from the Mara Bush Camp at about 9 am to get to the Olmalaika Trust at about 11. We did a short game drive on the way. I was not sure what to expect when I saw the Trust. All I really knew was that it was a place for girls and children. I also, at that time, did not know that one of the women who was joining me for the tour, was raised at the Olmalaika Trust.
When we arrived, I was surprised by the beauty of the place! The word Trust made me think of a government building. But this was NOT a government building! It was a lovely gated and safe cottage community and compound. The first thing we did was explore the wonderful gardens. The ample space for growing both flowers and food. I immediately felt at home. I continued the tour of the grounds and accommodation and felt calm and peaceful. It is beautiful.
The even better
After visiting the children, I sat down with the owner, Kim, and a girl named Doris. Doris, used to live at the Olmalaika Trust and now works at the Soroi Mara Bush Camp. We held a mini community circle to get to know each other and bond. In an instant, I knew that this was an amazing place, and the healing and connection I felt were powerful.
As a Reiki healer, I am always aware of negative energy. I can tell you that this place is a place of healing. It is a source of good energy, and I look forward to offering more with the Olmalaika Trust. Volunteers would love it, and really, you feel energised by all the good that is going on!

The Truth
The Olmalaika Trust protects women. It is a safe place for 0-10-year-old children. They are either orphaned or running away from child marriage, female genital mutilation, or abuse. The back story is tough. But the way that children move forward from this. Heal. Get jobs and succeed. It's an amazing place. A must visit!
Sorry I am getting excited and emotional! But I cannot help it! I am human...
I look forward to sharing this experience with you on our female safaris.
