My stay in Samburu Soroi Larsens

I fell in love with Samburu. It is a magical area in northern Kenya. I have been all over Kenya, but this is the first time I ventured up there. I love the landscape. Everyone says South Africa feels European. But even with the hills and rocky landscape, Samburu is still Africa - in all of its glory.

I stayed at the Soroi Larsens The camp in Samburu is named after a man called Eric Larsen. I had never heard of him before I arrived, but apparently, he was a famous Danish explorer and pioneer. His fame is credited for establishing luxury travel experiences.

Sunworld and Soroi Collection have taken over the Soroi Larsens Camp. It is still fantastic, but the group has added an Eco-Luxury element.

Eco-Luxury and why it is important

Why make a mess in Africa? Why waste or pollute an area that is so vital to the eco-system? Why offer the cheapest USD stays in camps outside of the Safari and not care about what you drive, how you drive just to make money? Why not care about your surroundings and invest in the environment?

Well Soroi Larsens does. It supports the eco-system adds sustainability into its backbone, and that is why I love it there. Careful and considerate, but not mass tourism.

I stayed in Swifts at first, which is an amazing tented experience. It has everything you need and is just stunning. It sits on the river, and you just feel so relaxed and in love with nature.

Then I moved to the SkyLight, which is more indulgent, but gives you a sense of calm. Basically, you walk up about 50 steps and sleep in the open under the stars. Wow. Here is a picture I took from my Sky at Night app. It was stunning!

There is also a hide. Now, I have never been in a hide before, but some friends I made at the camp took me. We took wine and our cameras and had the most epic evening in the dark, watching animals coming into the area. I cry easily, and this was one of those crying moments and (yes... I can always blame the wine!)

What I loved is that there are beds in the hide and also video cameras. This is like a photographers dream. The ladies I met were so enthusiastic and excited when a racoon turned up. It inspired me and my photography.

There are guards and staff throughout the camp and it makes you feel very safe and secure. Nothing can happen when you stay at the Skylight. A guard keeps you safe on the ground floor. The staff are amazing. I have to say they really understand distance, safety and customer service.

It is always important for me to see the bathrooms wherever I go and my sister too! So here are my Soroi Larsens toilet pictures!

I loved it here... if you didn't guess that already! Also there is great wine and even better food!
