Here are my authentic journeys in Africa! What you need for a Green Season Safari
The Best Waterproof Walking Boots for Kenya’s Green Season
The best walking boots for the Green or Mixed Season in Kenya are not princess leather style boots. They will get ruined. Or riding boots, they are too clunky. Here is a picture of my boots that I wore on my last Safari.

Why are these walking boots good?
Well for starters, they are both waterproof and affordable. They are also flexible enough to get in and out of the Safari Jeep with ease. It can be high. My guides had a wooden step ready to get me in and out. But not every Safari is the same. They are also non-slip with a great grip and really helped me out a lot when it was wet. Anything like this would be great for you.
Bushwalks & Village Visits: Why You Need Traction, Not Just Style
So, I can't sit every day. On every safari I have been to, and the safari that I created. I add excursions, where you do walk.
Bushwalk - 3-5Km
Visit to a local Kenyan school
Visit to the Olmalaika Trust
Maybe you don't walk a lot. But you can also walk to the accommodation that I have selected to the water holes, beekeeping or when you plant a tree.
What I wore on my bushwalk in Kenya
Thank goodness as there were a lot of stones! I had to hold the ranger's hand once or twice!

Does it rain a lot in the Green Season?
Actually, there are usually longer rains in the afternoon followed by sunshine. So, its like a wonderful British summer. I love the green of the landscape. You can also take great pictures after the rain.
What do you wear after the rain?
Well, this is my perfect outfit for after the rain in Kenya. I always use the laundry service at the lodges I book and ensure that I have enough clothes in case of rain. I also have gripped crocs and thick socks for after the rain. I like to keep my feet warm and also protect from insects that love biting the ankles. Socks are the secret weapon for a safari!

The Safari Secret Weapon: Why I Wear Thick Socks (and Sandals!)
As I wrote in my avoid mosquitoes article. Socks are a secret weapon on Safari. For three reasons
Warm feet - you never get ill... at least that is what I think
If it rains, always change your socks
Socks are my real weapon against mosquitoes. They love to attack the ankles, so make sure that you have enough pairs.
Are other seasons also very wet? What about the value season?
So, in my experience, I have had more rain in January in Kenya than at any other time. This is a video of the Maasai village after it rained the whole night. It was muddy. It was very slippery. I am wearing these same Trespass boots, but I think on my first Safari they were blue. I really needed them as there was a lot of animal waste around, that I did not want to slide into!
You really need good shoes if you visit the Maasai Village.
I have visual evidence here of
Me looking terrible
Me jumping with the Maasai
Me so happy, I had good shoes on. Another person in our party slipped and pulled a ligament. My advice get adventurous on Safari - but be prepared!
Lets start with the Instagram image of jumping with Maasai on Safari
