Get Ready, Giraffes Approaching! Another reason to love Reteti!

Two curious giraffes with stunning colours under an acacia tree at Reteti Elepant Sanctuary, Kenya.

I was watching a Giraffe watch me in Reteti. I was staring at it and it was staring at me. I was taking pictures and sending "love you" Reiki vibes as I was close. No. I was really close. Not intentionally. Or Unethically. (I am both sustainable and ethical, I promise)

The landscape with the Giraffe - so stunning

On my knees in front of the Giraffe in Reteti

I was scary close because I got down on my knees to photograph the Giraffe from a distance. But the Giraffe must have smelled my (perfume!) It was a very hot day, so my 50-something hormonal sweat probably came straight at it. Then. THEN..

It didn't move.

It was like being in one of those Indian movies where strange things happen, but everyone believes in God, so let the surrealism of the situation pass you by.

Trust me. I did not move either! I just parked my bum on the floor very low and thought, its neck can't reach me, and was very still. But basically, it was right above me and seemed to like me.

The curious Giraffe was just above my head, If I had stood up slightly,. I could have kissed it

I looked around for answers, only to see that I was surrounded by Giraffes. There were elephants behind the pen being fed by the carers, but the Giraffes were just chilling with you, without a care in the world.

You have heard about walking with all sorts of elephants, and TRUST ME - this was my moment. I bloody loved it!

Well, that was before the host approached me and asked me if I liked Giraffes or Elephants! I took the hint and re-joined the group to hear what he had to say. As a host myself, I apologise to him and Reteti for getting carried away with the Giraffes. The Elephants of Reteti are also fabulous.

Walking with the Giraffes of Reteti and Feeling on Fire

I would have loved to call this article "Walking with the Giraffes and Feeling on Fire," but I would probably be struck down by the SEO gurus and banished to zero views by Google Search Console.

But lo and behold, if you want to know what it feels like to be in Giraffe paradise as well as baby elephant heaven. Go to Reteti.

In fact, join me on my women's Safaris - you know you want to!
