October and November are the best months for going to Kenya if you want an ethical and sustainable trip. April and May are also in the green season and should be considered for your luxury Kenyan safari.
Yes! I was in Kenya on Safari in November 2025 and it was stunning. There were very few people in the camps. The rain came in short bursts. But actually only at night, when I was there. So, I didn't actually see any this time. No. I lie. It did rain on me the night I stayed in the Skylight outdoor room at Larsen's in Samburu. I felt it then!

The October vs. November
Showdown: Which one is for you?
The October Vibe is like the last week of the summer holiday for me. When, all the tourists that were there for the great migration have left or are leaving. Its the aftermath of a long migration season. But, at the same time. It is the Golden Hour month. There is lots of dust and drama before the rains come. Its busy. The first two weeks are very busy still, but from mid to end of October (our travel dates). It gets quieter.
November for me is the Emerald transformation season. I think my best and favourite Safaris have been in November. I love the smell of November. I lie. I love the smell of Africa in general. But really love the smell of the earth after the rain. In Germany, everyone talks about air quality and the reason to go to the North of Germany. I lived in Emden, up in the North. That air or "luft" in German is like November in Kenya. The grass turns green, the dust settles, and you can breathe.
The Truth About the Rain! (And why it will not ruin your trip)
As, I mentioned. I only had showers at night during my two-week Kenyan trip. I loved the temperatures, and I dressed like Summer holiday. I could see the waiters in their scarves looking at me, like I was crazy. But the fact is, I come from Europe. 26 degrees in November is hot and amazing. But the best thing is, its not humid. There is a wind, it's fresh! Also, I love the green in the pictures near the animals. Its a stark contrast to the browns of the Summer months.
Wildlife Behaviour: Who stays and who goes?
The great migration does not mean that all animals leave the Masai Mara. It means that only some go across the river. But the big cats are all still there. They do not migrate. October is your chance to see the big cats.
November is Baby Season. For me, during the migration and in the summer it is about the killing. Tracking, finding the animals and the hunting. But November is about love, cute nature, and not the killing side.

Soul of the Savannah Active Luxury Safari
In the next few days, we will launch a one-week Soul of the Savannah Women-Only Safari with a company called 57 Hors. It specialises in Women-Only travel. I have curated every second of this safari, and it offers a high-octane 7 days.
We go from Nairobi to Nakuru to the Masai Mara and there are lots of community, wellness, Reiki and exciting adventures along the way. The space is limited, so do ask me about it.
Remember that all my Safaris are operated by Best Safaris and Sunworld. They are all Women-Only. Similar women, global-minded women, fantastic conversation, and no mansplaining!
What to Pack for October and November Months
So October is a bit humid, and November is lush. So, think - what do you prefer? As I have dry skin, I love November! I look good, a bit of rain doesn't bother me. But my daughter loves the heat, and she would rock up in October. This is a choice you can make. But the clothes are about the same. Layers. I like linen fabrics. I wear shorts in October and November during the day. Long pants for the evenings and my secret anti-mosquito secret - socks.
Yep. I wear my socks even with sandals in the evening, so I don't get bitten on my ankles. For some reason, all bugs love ankles!

Safety and Comfort in the Bush for solo female travellers
The Mara Bush Camp caters to solo comfort in the Bush. There are guards on camp who will walk you to your tents at night. Who you ask to meet you in the mornings if you are worried? Who are well-trained and professional. It's not scary. This is luxury.

The Financials - Luxury in the Value and Green Seasons
The same luxury package in November can be up to 3 times less than in August.
The Mara Bush Camp
All of my trips to Kenya include the Mara Bush Camp as it is great for everyone. There is space to enjoy the surroundings. The tents are lovely and clean. The staff are lovely. The food is amazing. It is also rated GOLD for its sustainability. This is very important to me and hopefully everyone who travels with me! Read the blog on The Mara Bush Camp.
Photography for the rest of us! Why you don't need a 5000 dollar lens in November!
Trust me when I say this.
The lighting in November after the rains is GREAT. Its the same in the Green Season of April and May. You can benefit from great photography without being a photographer.
