2009 was a year of sickness for me. 2010, I was so drugged up on chemo and steroids I just can’t remember anything. 2011 was OK. But since my trip to the states in June/July it’s become a fantastic year.
Despite still being bald. I am now embracing my cancer. I am not ashamed or hiding away from it. It happened and I survived. It might come back, but I am doing everything in my power to starve the beast from returning. I am a vegan, fit, running, swimming, hiking and all sorts.
I haven’t been this fit for a long time. My wit, strength, humour and career aspirations are all coming back to me; at first slowly but now faster than ever.
Yikes, I don’t think that I have actually felt this strong for a long time. Cancer has taught me that however far you get knocked down you can climb back up. All you need is will power.
But anyway – I want to thank my amazing family for letting us stay with them in our three week US adventure. Raksha Aunty who is an amazing woman and her husband PK Saint who took us to Yosemite. But all my family and aunties and uncles and cousins were great. Ajay at Disneyland and Mona on the beach or Shaila skating.
The picture above is of me and the best cousins in the world Shaila and Mona. They booked and paid for a spa day for me at the impressive St. Regis hotel in Laguna Niguel. It was my treat after cancer and it really helped to talk about my issues and pain. Now talking and remembering what I have been through and how close I was to death (twice) makes me stronger.
